Before you pick a lane

Most projects touch more than one of these

A site launch that also needs a visual refresh. Analytics that turn up a content gap. A rebrand that ripples out into templates, landing pages, and email. Work rarely arrives in one tidy category.

When all three run through one team, context stays with the project. You are not explaining your brand to a third vendor, and nothing gets rebuilt because somebody missed what came before.

Proof

What it looks like when all three run together

Two engagements where the website work, the design work, and the measurement work sat inside the same retainer.

Rebuilding a Shopify store, then maintaining it

A DTC seaweed snack brand had outgrown its original Shopify theme. App-level customizations were stacked on top of each other, the PDP was doing four jobs at once, and the team was spending more time fighting the front end than running the business. We rebuilt the store on Shopify 2.0 without downtime, then stayed on as their biweekly development team. Two hundred-plus tickets and counting.

Running the development team for a Phoenix healthcare clinic

A specialty-care clinic serving LGBTQ+ patients and people living with HIV needed their digital side to move as fast as their clinical side. We joined as their ongoing development team in late 2025. We run three-week sprints against a shared backlog, shipped a full site refresh, handled a HIPAA-aware data incident, and absorb same-day press requests without losing the roadmap.
Common questions

Honest answers to the questions we get most

What's the minimum engagement?
Retainers start at $2,500 per month, on the Steady tier. We don't take on smaller engagements as retainers because the relationship doesn't have room to be useful at that size. If you have a one-off project, an audit or page build is probably a better fit (see Audits or Page Building).
What platforms do you support?
All of them, in the sense that we've worked across most major and a lot of niche ones. We're most experienced with WordPress, Shopify, and custom Ruby on Rails applications. If your stack is something we haven't worked in before, we'll tell you that on the consultation, and we'll be honest about whether we're the right fit.
Will you maintain a site you didn't build?
Yes, often. Our retainer practice started largely with sites built by other teams. We'll do a short technical and accessibility audit before the retainer starts so we both know what we're working with.
Do you charge extra for refreshes, integrations, or new pages?
Sometimes. Small additions usually fit inside your existing hours. Larger initiatives, like a full refresh or a multi-week integration, often expand scope. We talk about that explicitly when it comes up. There are no hidden charges.
What happens to hours I don't use in a given month?
Unused hours roll forward for up to twelve months. If your site is quiet for a stretch, those hours are still yours when something bigger comes up.

Plenty of clients arrive without a clear brief. Tell us what is bothering you about your site and we will work out together which of these actually helps.
